As the growth rate of DVD sales slowed sharply in 2005, studios and technology companies turned their attention to, new delivery platforms for movies and TV shows with an eye toward finding new avenues for growth. The biggest news of the year came from Apple Computers, which unveiled a long-anticipated video version of its popular iPod portable music player in October.
As part of its plunge into video, Apple also inked a deal with Disney under which the studio's ABC TV network will make some of its most popular prime time TV shows available for downloading from Apple's iTunes service one day after they air.
