LAS VEGAS--I went to an HD DVD presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show here and a Microsoft press conference broke out. Actually, the event was taken over by Microsoft even before it started, as the giant software maker's own keynote presentation immediately preceded the HD DVD presentation.

Bill Gates unveiled the built-in HD DVD support in Microsoft's upcoming Vista, the latest version of its Windows operating system, and a new HD DVD drive add-on for its Xbox 360 game console.
