Lionsgate leaves Barbie.(Lions Gate Films Inc. breaking up distribution agreements with Mattel Inc.)(Brief article)

* Lionsgate is breaking up with Barbie maker Mattel over the fee structure of their distribution deal after six DVD premieres and more than 13 million DVD and VHS copies sold. The studio will retain distribution rights to its Barbie Mattel will look for a new distribution mate for future titles.

Sources believe Universal is a logical choice given family entertainment exec Glenn Ross's move there from Lionsgate. Lionsgate's last title will be The Barbie Diaries, due in May.
