Software maker Sonic Solutions, a leading provider of DVD authoring tools, has formed a new alliance with hardware makers to ensure that discs created using the advanced inter active features of Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD will work smoothly with the new generation of players. Sonic announced late last week the formation of a new advisory group made up of leading PC and consumer electronics device makers from both format camps.

The new group will work with the High Definition Authoring Alliance, which was set up last year by Sonic to establish standard guidelines and parameters for disc producers working in the new interactive formats.
