Video snacks, more so than full meals, are proving the most popular type of paid digital download or stream, according to NPD research. Despite CinemaNow and Movielink offering download-to-own movies day and date with their DVD release in April, consumer tastes during that launch month still leaned toward shorter form video.

Carrying mostly TV and music videos, iTunes was the most widely frequented digital video source in April 2006. With the October 2005 launch of iTunes' video service, NPD indicates that Movielink's market share actually dropped from its April 2005 levels--even with ramped up film offerings--compared with others in the study.
