Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has pushed the release of its initial Blu-ray titles to June, citing retailer requests to sync the format's hardware and software launches. Sony's first batch of titles had been slated to bow May 23. They will now street June 20 to coincide with the release of the first Samsung Blu-ray Disc players, due around June 25.
Amazon.com had the new date in place on its site by May 3. "They really have got to get on the hardware--that has to be there--otherwise the Blu-ray DVDs are worthless," said Mason Goodfellow, Hastings director of marketing.
