There is no better venue to answer nagging questions about the transition to advanced videogame consoles than this weeks Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Retailers and videogamers are keen to ferret out important details about the PlayStation 3 and how Microsoft Games will leverage its one-year lead in the marketplace with the Xbox 360.

Yet Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft may yet holdback key cards in their fall strategy. The biggest conundrum is price. At what price will Sony launch the PS3? When will Microsoft lower the Xbox 360 price, and by how much? Speculation within the industry varies, suggesting the PS3 will debut at somewhere between $400 and $800.
