By Jennifer Netherby EchoStar deal adds funds, subs CinemaNow has closed a $20.3 million round of funding that marks the movie download company's largest cash infusion to date and will bring its service into homes of EchoStar Communications' 12 million Dish Network satellite subscribers.
EchoStar was the leading investor in the round, which also included Index Holdings and previous investors Transcosmos, Cisco Systems, Lionsgate and Menlo Ventures. The investment equals the total funding CinemaNow had previously raised since its 1999 launch. Along with its investment, EchoStar has signed a commercial agreement with CinemaNow that will allow it to offer CinemaNow movies on demand to satellite subscribers. EchoStar has been rolling out...
