By Jennifer Netherby Internet service to bridge gap between Web and TV Microsoft will begin selling the first high-definition movie and TV downloads from the major studios through its Xbox Live Internet service, which is connected to the Xbox 360 gaming console, beginning Nov. 22.
Users will be able to download movies and TV episodes to their Xbox 360 for viewing on the TV, bridging the crucial gap between the Internet and TV that many see as key to driving the download business. Films will be available only as rentals in the video-on-demand window, and TV shows will be available as permanent downloads the day after broadcast. The company has not disclosed pricing.
