By Susanne Ault Studios bundle titles with HD DVD, Blu-ray players Format marketers and retailers are stepping up bundling and co-promotions of high-definition DVD hardware and software in an effort to woo holiday shoppers. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment confirmed that initial boxes of Sony's standalone Blu-ray Disc player, launching in December, will carry the Blu-ray version of The Fifth Element .
Retailers believe Pioneer standalone Blu-ray players also will come boxed with a Blu-ray title, but Pioneer did not comment by deadline. Pioneer's player also was recently delayed until December.
