Consumers also buy more PS2, Xbox 360 units
Consumers snapped up the Wii console in larger numbers than any other videogame system in January.
According to the NPD Group, Nintendo of America's Wii sold 437,000 units last month, far ahead of Sony Computer Entertainment of America's PlayStation 3 at 244,000 units. Gamers also preferred the Wii over the Xbox 360, which sold 295,000 units.
Through Jan. 31, 1.5 million Wiis have been sold at retail in the U.S, compared to 933,000 PS3s. With a year's head start, more than 4.8 million Xbox 360s have been purchased.
