By Jennifer Netherby Unit may spur movie download growth Calling its new product a "DVD player for the Internet age," Apple last week began shipping the much-anticipated Apple TV, a set-top box that connects the computer to the TV and is expected to drive movie download growth. The Apple TV set-top box retails for $299 and has a 40GB hard drive, which can hold up to 50 hours of video content.
It was originally scheduled to ship last month but was delayed by Apple without explanation. In a research note sent out March 19, ThinkEquity analyst Jonathan Hoopes predicted Apple TV could alter the video industry just as the iPod changed the music world. Hoopes said that with a software update, Apple could add digital video recorder capabilities...
