By Jennifer Netherby Sopranos star named ambassador of high-def format HBO's The Sopranos was one of the first TV shows to get a high-definition DVD release, and now one of its stars will be the first to campaign for high-def home entertainment. Toshiba said last week that it has signed Michael Imperioli, who plays Christopher Moltisanti on the critically acclaimed show, to serve as ambassador for HD DVD and Toshiba's REGZA high-definition TVs.
Imperioli will be featured in HD DVD print ads and TV commercials as well as TV spots for REGZA TVs. While not giving an exact dollar figure for the marketing effort, Toshiba corporate communications director Maria Repole said it represents 'a substantial increase in ad spending over last...
