They are the men and women who are cleaning up the devastation created that September morning when everything changed. In the world of waste, there's never been anything quite like the job these people face.

From the painstaking removal of debris where the World Trade Center once stood, to the transportation of the materials to Fresh Kills landfill and then the constant processing of the material, hundreds of men and women are working around the clock. For these reasons, those people working to clean up after the World Trade Center terrorist attacks are the Waste News Newsmaker of the Year for 2001. Their efforts must be continuous....
