Electronics Xerox programs reduce waste, pollution Rochester, N.Y. - Xerox Corp.'s environmental programs are paying off for the company, its customers and the environment, according to the company's 2002 Environmental Health and Safety Report released Nov. 21. Xerox diverted 149 million pounds of material from landfills through reuse and recycling of its equipment in 2001.
The company reported that it has reduced emissions of ozone and dust from its equipment by 56 percent and 81 percent respectively from a 1990 baseline, and that it has beneficially handled 99 percent of its hazardous waste through recycling, treatment or blending of fuels. ``We consider protection of the environment and the health and safety of our people to be...
