Poly-America Inc. has won a lawsuit alleging a Gundle/SLT Environmental Inc. business infringed on a patent.

The civil trial, held in the U.S. District Court in Dallas, concluded Dec. 19 with the jury returning its verdict for an award of $12 million.

``GSE intends to appeal in due course,'' said Roger J. Klatt, GSE executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

Initially, Houston-based GSE plans to seek a reversal in the trial court. The lawsuit revolved around whether Serrot International Inc. infringed on a Poly-America patent in the production and sale of Serrot's smooth-edge textured line of geomembranes for several markets.
