Byline: Joe Truini Three New England states filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency this month for failing to regulate carbon dioxide emissions. Attorneys general from Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine filed the lawsuit June 4 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

They claim the EPA has a mandatory duty to regulate carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act. "Our lawsuit is a last resort,'' said Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. "Even after abundant opportunity and public urging, the EPA steadfastly refused to enforce the law and protect the public.''
