Byline: Jim Johnson Waste Management Inc.'s proposed purchase of assets in southern Florida from Allied Waste Industries Inc. may proceed if Waste Management sells certain hauling assets, the U.S. Department of Justice said. The federal government, which has concerns about competition, is requiring Waste Management to sell small-container commercial hauling assets on certain routes in Broward County.
Waste Management also will be required to notify the Justice Department and the state of Florida if it plans to acquire small-container commercial hauling assets in the county during the next four years, the federal government said.
