Paper Recycling Weyerhaeuser to pay $87,000 to settle Washington - Weyerhaeuser Co. will pay more than $87,000 in back pay and interest to applicants seeking jobs at its Bellevue, Wash., corrugated packaging plant to settle discrimination charges brought by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The company will pay the cash to 30 minority applicants who were subject to discriminatory hiring practices, the Labor Department said. The company also will hire six minority applicants and pay them a total of $167,910 in annual pay and benefits. Weyerhaeuser inherited the case when it purchased the plant as part of its takeover of Willamette Industries Inc., the federal government said.
