GM, Postal Service unveil plan for fuel cell vehicle.(News)(Brief Article)

Byline: Bruce Geiselman The U.S. Postal Service, working with General Motors Corp., will use a nonpolluting fuel cell vehicle to deliver mail in the nation's capital. The Postal Service and GM announced the agreement June 15, saying the fuel cell-powered minivan should be on D.C.-area roads delivering mail in September.
The date coincides with the opening of the nation's first hydrogen pump at a retail gas station. Last year, GM and Shell Hydrogen unveiled a partnership to provide hydrogen for a GM fleet of fuel cell vehicles operating around Washington. The post office hopes the fuel cell vehicle will save on fuel costs as gasoline prices in the Washington area now average more than $2 per gallon, said Thomas G. Day, vice president of...
