Byline: Bruce Geiselman The popularity of socially responsible investing has been growing for several years, and experts say there are indications it will continue into 2005. Most individuals wanting to invest in companies that adhere to their social values do so by purchasing shares of socially responsible mutual funds, many of which screen companies' environmental policies.

A few funds - including Portfolio 21 and those managed by Sierra Club Mutual Funds and Green Century Funds - select companies primarily based on their environmental policies. Assets in socially screened mutual funds as a class increased by 11 percent to $151 billion between 2001 and 2003, the last year for which figures were available, according to the Social Investment...
