Byline: Bruce Geiselman The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new emission standards aimed at significantly reducing toxic fumes from gasoline, vehicles and gas containers. EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson unveiled the proposal March 1, saying it would reduce health risks to the public.
"By cleaning up our fuels and vehicle exhaust, EPA is paving the road toward a cleaner environment and healthier drivers,'' Johnson said. The proposal would set new benzene standards for gasoline, hydrocarbon emission standards for passenger vehicles at cold temperatures, and evaporative standards for fuel containers. Once the new standards are fully implemented in 2030, they should reduce annual emissions of mobile source air toxics by 350,000...
