Byline: Joe Truini Two energy giants are teaming up to develop the world's largest hydrogen-fueled power plant, complete with the optional underground carbon sequestration feature. BP PLC and Edison Mission Group, a subsidiary of Rosemead, Calif.-based Edison International, unveiled their plans last month.

The $1 billion, 500-megawatt hydrogen-fueled power plant would be next to BP's refinery in Carson, Calif., about 20 miles south of Los Angeles. "This will be the first plant of its kind in the whole country, and I think it is a perfect fit for our state,'' California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said.
