Rumpke fights to expand; Owner of Ohio landfill undeterred by denial from township.(Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc.)

Byline: Jim Johnson Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. is going to court in an effort to expand the company's flagship landfill by more than 200 acres. The suburban Cincinnati-based company has filed a lawsuit in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court after Colerain Township, Ohio, trustees denied an expansion request in late November.

Rumpke, one of the largest privately held solid waste management companies in the country, wants to add disposal capacity east of and contiguous to the current disposal space. The company's proposal also would create 59 acres for light industrial development and 85 acres of green space, spokeswoman Amanda Pratt said.
