By Barry Gantenbein The last couple of months I've been substituting the word gardening for yard work when I talk about cutting the grass, pulling weeds, trimming bushes, and other outside jobs. Gardening is a hobby enjoyed by many, not to mention good exercise, while yard work is a chore, usually done on a hot, sticky, mosquito-laden day while wearing clothes that will become rags after they are torn or stained by yard work.

Attitude is the difference between gardening and yard work. I'm trying to change my attitude toward a job that I usually don't mind, but sometimes don't feel like doing. If I call it gardening, it's less objectionable. So, it's gardening, not yard work. The Marquette University nickname fiasco got me...
