Staff Asphalt excellence rewarded at WAPA Meeting & Conference The asphalt paving industry's best were honored at the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA) 46th Business Meeting & Conference in Madison, Wis. Annually, WAPA recognizes innovative ideas and leadership in the transportation field with the Innovation Award.
Two Innovation Awards were presented this year. The city of Milwaukee's Department of Public Works received the award for the Canal Street project. Reportedly the first project of its kind in Wisconsin, the design and construction of Canal Street is with a deep-strength hot mix asphalt pavement.
