Greece's OTE selects equipment from Aperto for deploying a pilot WiMAX network.(CONTRACTS)

Greece-based telecom firm OTE has selected U.S.-based Aperto Networks to supply equipment for deploying a pilot WiMAX network at Mount Ahtos (Halkidiki region), as part of its planned countrywide rollout. Heletel, the Greece-based distributor of Aperto, has been selected to install the wireless broadband infrastructure.

Heletel will deploy Aperto's PM 100 subscriber units, PM20 indoor VoIP gateway routers, Packet Max 500 base stations, and a Wave Center EMS Pro element management system. OTE provides telephony services to around 200,000 residential users in Greece through wireless access systems in the 1.5GHZ and 2.5GHz bands.
