Arabica futures move up to six-week high.(Brief Article)

HURRICANE CONCERNS HAVE continued to provide a fillip for US arabica futures, which rallied to a six-week high on 17 October. Futures prices were lifted by fund buying amid concerns over supply tightness and a new hurricane--Wilma, which at press time had just been upgraded from a tropical storm--that potentially could threaten coffee areas in Central America, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's (NYBOT) December arabica contract rose 4.5 per cent to settle at US$1.0410 a pound on 17th, its highest close since 1 September.
