Oil windfalls and dollar uncertainty.(Oil News)

JUST WHEN WE thought the US dollar was showing unexpected strength, and wealth was gushing into those few sub-Saharan countries like Nigeria whose exports are denominated that way, down it goes again. The prime cause this time seems to be the lacklustre performance on Wall Street, where equities are now trading on a par with 1 January levels. Throughout Europe they have climbed well over 10 per cent, with the Swiss bourses doing best at 17. And here the JSE index is up more than 20 per cent when measured in rand terms, a reflection of the strong international metals market.
