AT RALLIES UP and down Zimbabwe, particularly during elections, President Mugabe continues to ram home his message that the UK and her Western allies are a major cause of the decline in the economy, and food shortages, writes Ronald Watts..

Whilst to most observers this is a far-fetched idea, his message still seems to be accepted in many African countries. One example of this fact was the recent row between the EU and Malawi over the opening of the Blantyre-Mlanje road--which was to be named Robert Mugabe Road.
