Tea output falls.(Commodity Report)

AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED Kenyan tea output this year has been hit by unfavourable weather conditions. Tea production in the six months to 30 June fell by 19 per cent--about 32.5mn kg--to 134mn kg compared with the same year earlier period. Exports of tea in the first six months of 2006 were 14 per cent lower year-on-year at 147mn kg. Pakistan remained the biggest importer of Kenyan tea accounting for 29 per cent of the total export volume.
