AFTER A LEGACY of misrule Nigeria is finally taking its place as the powerhouse of West Africa, writes Moin Siddiqi. Prudent policies and a commitment to reform are fostering the economy, and GDP is estimated to have grown at an impressive rate of 7.6 per cent over the last three years. Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street bank, reckons that if current reform momentum is sustained Nigeria could even surpass South Africa as Africa's number one economic power.
