Will There Be a Telecom-Based Information Services Industry? After nearly two decades we have yet to see the establishment of a viable, affordable and ubiquitous telecommunications-based information services industry. What is even more depressing is that the continued muddling by regulators and the MFJ Court over who should be permitted to participate in the information business, and which regulators - state or federal - should have jurisdiction, seems guaranteed to squelch whatever limited opportunity still remains.
