About six years ago, I participated in one of the very first commercially sponsored conference sessions on the topic of PBX disaster recovery. There were five speakers on the podium and about an equal number in the audience. But after the Hinsdale disaster and the major outages of 1991 and 1992, disaster planning and recovery are no longer taken for granted; there actually are people who make their living working in the field.
