People recognize groupware when they see it, but the types of products are expanding. Here are some major categories. The term "groupware" is not easy to define. For some, it's synonymous with Lotus Development Corp.'s (Cambridge, MA) Lotus Notes, the most widely recognized groupware product.

For others, groupware implies full-function electronic mail, while still ither think to it as conferencing, scheduling or workflow software.
