IBM recently announced Enterprise Extender and Branch Extender software enhancements for its 2210 and 2216 routers and for the 3746 Multi-access Enclosure. These enhancements extend access from IP clients across intranet and Internet environments into SNA-based IBM host and midrange servers.

IBM also announced updated TN3270E server support for both the 2210 and 2216, enabling access to SNA applications over IP and HPR. Efficient IP/SNA integration is important for Fortune 1000 companies that, while rapidly deploying IP-based intranets to the desktop, maintain much of their business-critical data on SNA mainframes and midrange systems.
