Corporate IT Called Ready for ASPs.(Industry Trend or Event)

IT directors are interested in buying services from application service providers (ASP), according to new research from Ovum consultancy (www.ovum.com), which says the ASP market will be worth more than $136 billion by 2006. The consultants did research among firms of varying sizes, from small businesses to the Fortune 500, and in both the U.S.
and Europe. Ovum concluded that today's IT managers are sufficiently overworked to be open to the idea of outsourcing some functions to ASPs, although the emphasis was on "non-critical applications" as the leading candidates.
