The North American market for broadband digital loop carriers (BBDLC), business passive optical networks (PONs) and residential fiber in the loop (FITL) will see significant growth over the next several years. That's the projection of market researchers RHK, who say that service providers are looking to replace copper-based services such as TI with fiber.
Though the vast bulk of this market is BBDLCs, this product category's growth rate will slow as PON deployments catch on and grow at a compound annual rate of 380 percent between 2000 and 2004.
