Avaya's new security gateways.(Product Review)

Security in converged networks was already a serious issue before Merrill Lynch announced it was switching from a "pure" IP voice system to a TDM-IP hybrid because of denial-of-service concerns (see this issue, pp. 26-30). Merrill's announcement simply ensures that the debate will rage on, and that customers will be asking their vendors for new assurances that voice traffic can be protected and voice networks kept running during the VOIP migration.
