Security investments to ramp up through 2006.(Network Security)(Brief Article)

Companies will spend as much as 12 percent of their IT budgets on network security by 2006, then this share will start to drop off, according to Meta Group. The market researchers show the U.S. setting the pace for security spending as a percentage of total IT budgets; the peak and decline will each occur about a year earlier in the U.S.
than in Europe and Asia/Pacific, said Meta. This lag is attributable to the fact that information security compliance issues and lapses have generally drawn less publicity in Europe than in the U.S. And in Asia, while more mature economies such as Singapore's and Japan's show trends similar to Europe's, other nations lag farther behind.
