The worldwide market for storage management software rose 12.3 percent in 2004 over 2003, said Gartner, Inc. The 2004 market share leaders were as follows: * EMC--29.5 percent * Veritas--18.5 percent * IBM--12.2 percent * Computer Associates--5.3 percent * Network Appliance--5.2 percent * Hewlett-Packard--4.8 percent * Hitachi/HDS--4.5 percent Of these leaders, CA and HP lost market share, while EMC grew its share to extend its lead.
