Cable modem subs still growing.(MARKET TRENDS)(Brief Article)

Subscribership for cable modem services grew 22 percent from 2003 to 2004, according to Infonetics Research. Vendor revenues for cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) fell 25 percent quarter-over-quarter from 4Q04 to 1Q05, but this decline was anticipated due to 4Q04's extremely strong sales; Michael Howard, principal analyst of Infonetics Research, predicted that sales growth will resume this year and continue through 2008.
"It appears the DSL and FTTH [fiber to the home] rampage that is causing a reactive cable investment course will be with us for some time." Howard said.
