Big growth expected for VOIP services.(PUBLIC NETWORK)

Carrier revenues from voice over IP (VOIP) services will grow by more than 18X from last year to 2009, said Infonetics Research. Vonage is the market share leader, followed by Cablevision and Time Warner, though the latter two cable companies own a combined total of 40 percent of the market, according to Infonetics.
Von-age is at its lowest market share in nine months because of gains by the cable companies, said Kevin Mitchell, principal analyst at Infonetics. Some market share highlights: * Vonage had 32 percent of the market in 2Q05, down from 36 percent the previous quarter. Time Warner grew from 21 percent market share in 1Q05 to 25 percent in the second quarter; and Cablevision lost share, from 21 percent in 1Q05 to 19 percent in 2Q05. ...
