Dorfman, John Forward 05-26-2000 THE FEATHERMAN FILE Of Noteworthy Items in the Press Lousy Journalism: The official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority, Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah, has published a cartoon depicting Jews as lice. In the April 23 issue of that paper, a cartoon titled "The Sting of the Jew: Normalization" showed a Palestinian Arab scratching his head, on top of which a Jew is shown in insectoid form. The national president of the Zionist Organization of America, Morton Klein, said, "This dehumanizing cartoon, with its portrayal of Jews as insects, hearkens back to the ugly anti-Jewish stereotypes....At a time when Arafat is supposed to be negotiating peace with Israel, his official newspaper is inciting hatred against Jews and the Jewish state." ...
