FOLLOWING the cancellation of one lecture in a series at Fordham University's Institute of Irish Studies, another lecturer has pulled out amid accusations that Fordham is suppressing academic freedom. Irish law professor Ivana Bacik claims the prestigious university cancelled her lecture last Friday because of her campaign to legalize abortion in Ireland. Her lecture on Globalization and Immigration was part of a yearlong exploration of issues in contemporary Ireland called the John M. Kehoe and Mollie Denning Kehoe Lecture Series in the University's Irish Studies Program. Bacik, who was the inaugural speaker, was unreachable in Ireland this week. She told Ireland's Sunday Business Post that canceling was disgraceful....
