Maoldhomhnaigh, Peadhar O Irish Voice 10-18-2005 THE Lansdowne Rugby Club upped their record to 4-1 this season with a 41-0 victory over the NYPD Rugby Club this past Saturday in the Bronx. On a day that would have made Noah quail, Lansdowne played the NYPD on an astroturf pitch on Fordham University campus.

The slick conditions, howling wind and pelting rain made for some humorous miscues as the ball behaved like a greased pig and the two rugby clubs stumbled like drunken frat boys trying to pen it. The conditions meant that Lansdowne got off to a slow start, making ground on penalty kicks to touch and then mauling the willful ball up the sidelines.
