Keating, Paul Irish Voice 11-08-2005 IT won't be such a long way to Tipperary this coming Friday night at New York University's Glucksman Ireland House as the monthly Blarney Star concert series welcomes two Tipp men to perform. Appearing in the second floor library are piper Michael Cooney and guitar/vocalist Pat Egan with whom he once played along with box player Paddy O'Brien (Offaly) in Chulrua.
They come from the same parish in Tipperary, Gorthnahoe. Piper Cooney resides up near Lake Placid now after a number of years in the Midwest where he helped establish John D. McGurk's as a great St. Louis House for traditional music in association with box player Joe Burke back in the eighties and nineties. Cooney has a lovely clear style on the pipes and...
