In The Game; Earl Lloyd's Hall of Fame induction was long overdue

Stein, Leland Michigan Chronicle 04-22-2003 Too many so-called sports aficionados know little or nothing about the pioneering achievements of ex-Pistons coach and player Earl Lloyd. Well, after his long overdue induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame recently, Lloyd, now 77, is being revisited and remembered by all in the sporting community. It seems that in the late 40s and early 50s when White-dominated sports teams were in their integration mode, baseball and Jackie Robinson garnered all the attention. I suppose baseball was the All-American game and professional football and basketball only had cult followings, meager to say the least.
