Manor, John H. Michigan Chronicle 04-15-2003 Dr. Arthur L. Johnson has dedicated his life to uplifting his fellow man and the community at large. He is widely respected for his decades of work as an educator and civil rights leader, and his efforts in the cultural arts are equally exemplary.
During a time when it was unpopular and often dangerous for Blacks to stand up and fight racism, this mild-mannered gladiator worked tirelessly to create awareness and f change for Blacks in the South and across America. Johnson was born in Americus, Ga., on Nov. 5, 1925 to Clara Stewart and Arthur Allen.
