Wayne County's CFO shatters glass ceiling in big way

You start off thinking your life is headed in one direction, only to find out that life had a few more curveballs planned than you ever anticipated. Sometimes curveballs can be a good thing. Carla Sledge, who continues to serve as Wayne County's chief financial officer, is now the first African American female to ever be elected president of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) in the organization's 99-year history.
